Case Dismissed For Columbus Pet Groomer Charged With Animal Cruelty

Posted On: October 21st, 2015

A 40-year-old woman from Circleville recently contacted Luftman, Heck & Associates for legal consult. One day our client, a pet groomer, was charged with animal cruelty. Our client was required to restrain an unruly dog she was grooming. The dog owner later observed marks on the dog from it being restrained and became upset with the dog groomer. She then filed a complaint. With this charge against her, she contacted the Columbus attorneys at Luftman, Heck & Associates.

Our client was concerned that an animal cruelty conviction would cause problems from a professional standpoint. The dog suffered no injuries but regardless, the owner was unhappy with the treatment her dog received. Columbus criminal defense lawyer Joseph Kunkel argued that the dog was running rampant and it was necessary that she restrain it to prevent herself from being bitten. The prosecutor strongly agreed and the case was dismissed.
