Domestic Violence and Assault Charges Dismissed

Posted On: October 27th, 2014

A young man in his mid-30s found himself in an extremely difficult position recently. He was charged with domestic violence and assault. He was arrested and taken to jail. His case was scheduled in   Franklin County Municipal Court. He was adamant that he had done absolutely nothing wrong. His job had suspended him pending the outcome of the case. He spoke with attorney Ben Luftman and during their conversation relayed that he felt his life was truly on the line and he was placing his trust in the Columbus Criminal Defense team to get the domestic violence and assault charges wiped away.

Attorneys with LHA represented the young man on his case. We reviewed the evidence and indicated to the prosecutor that he was prepared to conduct a jury trial on our client’s behalf. After six court dates and a second jury trial date requested by the prosecutor, the state ultimately decided to dismiss the domestic violence and assault case against our client.

Our client was extremely relieved and felt vindicated by the result. The dismissal along with the subsequent expungement or sealing of the record of the case will ultimately remove this from our client’s criminal background.
