Drug Conviction Avoided

Posted On: March 13th, 2013

Our client, a gainfully employed gentleman in his early 30’s, who drives for his job, was stopped for a traffic violation. His vehicle smelled of marijuana. The officer questioned him and he confessed to smoking marijuana and that there was marijuana and a pipe in the vehicle.  The gentleman was then charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, our client faced a mandatory six-month license suspension and the loss of his employment. Facing the potential loss of his career, he turned to the Columbus criminal defense team for help. Attorneys with LHA successfully negotiated with the prosecutor on his behalf and ultimately our client was offered a bond forfeiture. He avoided the marijuana conviction, avoided the license suspension and kept his job.
