Falsification Charge against International Student Dismissed and Expunged

Posted On: March 28th, 2013

An international student tried to use a friends ID to get into a local bar. The doorman recognized that the young man was not the same person on the ID and called the police. The police questioned the young man, who confessed and was charged with falsification. A falsification conviction could have had a devastating impact on our client. He was in the United States studying on a visa and a conviction could have led to his deportation or inability to return to the United States to complete his studies. Attorneys with LHA worked tirelessly on his behalf and were able to negotiate the dismissal of his case. After, we filed a motion to expunge his client’s case. The judge granted the motion and the record of the charge was sealed. Our client was able to remain in the United States to complete his studies and his criminal record was wiped clean.
