Menacing And Assault Charges Reduced To Disorderly Conduct In Neighbor Dispute Involving Firearms

Posted On: January 20th, 2016

The attorneys at Luftman, Heck & Associates recently represented a client after an unfortunate neighbors dispute involving firearms. Our client’s neighbors crossed onto our her yard and carried a firearm with them at which point our client’s son produced his own gun from inside the house. The mother promptly took the gun away from her son to avoid any further disturbances, but another man wrestled the firearm away from her, striking her in the process. In an attempt to control the situation on her property, the mother grabbed the nearest object and struck the man. Our client, a Columbus resident, was charged with menacing and assault after this occurrence.

Police officers responded to the scene immediately. However, the only firearm still on the property at that time was our client’s. It was evident, based on our client’s clean record, that she was was caught in the middle of this neighbor dispute. Attorney Kunkel fought on behalf of his client and using a strong defense achieved a reduced offense of disorderly conduct. Our client saw one-year of probation and a small fine.
