Drug Abuse Charge Dismissed

Posted On: February 24th, 2014

A young man was driving and after allegedly committing a traffic violation, was pulled over by a Columbus Police Department officer. After an exchange at his vehicle, the young man found himself facing not only the traffic violation but a misdemeanor drug abuse charge. His case was scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

His concern was about the license suspension he was now facing. If convicted, a six-month to five-year license suspension would be imposed by the court. The court is not required to grant limited driving privileges. This was not an option as he would not be able to continue with his job. After speaking with Attorney Ben Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was hired to represent him on the case.

After a number of court dates, attorneys with LHA were able to negotiate a resolution where our client pled guilty to the minor traffic violation and the drug abuse charge was dismissed. The dismissal kept a criminal conviction off our client’s record and, most importantly, allowed him to keep his license and his job.
