Misdemeanor Theft Charge Dismissed

Posted On: August 18th, 2014

While shopping at a Columbus area Walmart, a lady in her mid-30s was stopped by loss prevention. She was asked to accompany them to their office. While in the office she was questioned about items she was seen concealing. After questioning, she admitted to trying to take the items. She was charged with misdemeanor theft. Her case was filed in Franklin County Municipal Court.

The young lady knew that she had made a mistake. She had never been charged with more than a traffic citation. She was ashamed. However, she knew she could not afford to have a misdemeanor theft conviction on her criminal background. She decided to contact attorney Ben Luftman. After speaking with attorney Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was brought on board to try and keep this misdemeanor theft charge from causing any greater problems.

Attorneys with LHA represented the young lady on her case. We ultimately able to negotiate the dismissal of her case for her payment of court costs and completion of an anti-theft course. The dismissal and subsequent expungement or sealing of her record will completely remove the misdemeanor theft charge from her criminal background.

The Columbus Criminal Defense team contemplates an expungement on all criminal cases we represent clients on. If you are eligible to have your case expunged, we will come back for you and make sure that happens as soon as you are eligible.
