Misdemeanor Theft Charge Dismissed

Posted On: March 11th, 2014

A gentleman in his mid-40s found himself in an extremely uncomfortable position recently. Having never been charged with more than a traffic violation, he was charged with theft from a local Columbus Kroger store. His case was scheduled for arraignment in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Having a position in the healthcare field and going through the process of becoming a citizen, the gentleman was beside himself with worry. He had made a mistake and this was certainly a lapse of judgment, one that could impact the rest of his life. He picked up the phone and contacted attorney Ben Luftman to discuss his options and see if there was any help available. After speaking with attorney Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was hired to help this man minimize the situation.

Attorneys with LHA represented our client at court. Ultimately, we were able to negotiate the dismissal of the gentleman’s case upon his payment of court costs, completion of an anti-theft program, and an agreement to stay away from Kroger. Our client was happy to accept those conditions in exchange for his case being dismissed. The dismissal, along with the subsequent expungement, or sealing of our client’s record will remove this very unfortunate incident and allow him to move forward with his life.
