Warrant for Arrest in 3yo 1st Degree Misdemeanor Theft Case, Dismissed

Posted On: May 21st, 2015

Columbus criminal defense attorneys were recently contacted by a man in his 20s arrested and charged with 1st Degree Misdemeanor Theft. This is a serious charge and carries with it a sentence of up to six months in jail, $1,000 fine and 5-years of probation. Our client had been arrested and charged with this crime over three years ago but due to circumstances outside of his control had moved out of state and never went to court to face these charges. After returning and being stopped on a minor traffic violation the warrant for our clients arrest was discovered and he spent 10 days in jail before bailing out and contacting Luftman, Heck & Associates to represent him in this case.

Our criminal defense attorneys went to work requesting the discovery evidence in this case and requesting the interviews of the witnesses from the alleged crime. After three hearings on behalf of our client the case was headed to trial when it was discovered the witnesses were not available and columbus criminal attorneys successfully negotiated the dismissal of this charge against our client.
