Businessman Avoids Theft Conviction

A businessman in his early 60s found himself in an unfortunate situation recently. After shopping at a local Columbus Kroger store, he was checking out with his items. There was an issue while scanning his items and a few of them did not scan properly. He did not know this. While exiting the store, he was stopped by loss prevention. He was then escorted to the loss prevention office, where he was questioned. English is not this gentleman’s first language. He tried to explain the issue and protested his innocence. Loss prevention was not swayed and charged him with a theft charge in Franklin County Municipal Court.
