Attorney Christopher Junga has always had a passion for public service. Between private practice and his work with various Public Defender Offices in Ohio, he brings over 23 years of criminal defense experience to Luftman, Heck & Associates. With his wealth of legal knowledge and nearly 100 jury trials across the state, Chris is a resource for clients and a zealous advocate for those facing life-changing circumstances.
Chris is a Toledo native and attended The University of Toledo with a BA in Political Science and the University of Toledo College of Law. After law school, he was hired by the Ohio Public Defenders Office. He worked in Ross County and Franklin County for several years before entering private practice, handling civil and criminal law cases.
Eventually, Chris wanted to return to public service and ran for Common Pleas Judge in Franklin County in 2010. When the opportunity arose to become the Director of the Ross County Public Defender’s Office, he jumped at it. While there, he helped help start the first Public Defender’s Office in Delaware County and served as the Assistant and Interim Chief.
Now, as part of Luftman, Heck & Associates, Chris continues to do what he loves – criminal defense work, handling the following:
- Drug Charges
- Domestic Violence
- Sex Crimes
- Theft & Fraud
- Traffic Offenses
- Weapon Offenses
- Probation Violations
“I believe that criminal defense is a noble profession. It holds the government to fundamental fairness and the rule of law and helps people get their lives back on track.” – Christopher Junga
Attorney Junga handles cases ranging from misdemeanor and traffic matters to the most serious felonies, such as murder, rape, and major drug crimes. At LHA, Chris typically focuses on severe, high-level cases where his clients face the possibility of incarceration and the loss of liberties. Because of his previous experience with the Ohio Public Defenders Office in multiple counties, Chris has an extensive professional network and is very familiar with the local judges, prosecutors, and court staff.
As a defense lawyer, Chris genuinely enjoys being in court, trying cases, and facing off against the prosecution. He gets involved as early as possible, believing meeting with clients and discussing their issues as soon as possible is critical to getting quality legal representation. As a lawyer who truly cares about the circumstances his clients find themselves in, Chris works hard to be accessible and ensure they completely understand what’s happening with their case.
With his trial record and reputation, Chris knows what works. And while no two criminal cases are alike, he’d be the first to say that having a veteran attorney who is unafraid to fight for you is the best way to handle a difficult situation.
Outside of the office, Chris spends his time with his two amazing and very active kids, Jonathan and Sophia. Chris also enjoys cooking international cuisine, golfing, and traveling.
