Counselor Avoids Theft Conviction

Posted On: August 21st, 2014

A young substance abuse counselor made a very poor and uncharacteristic error in judgment while at a Central Ohio store recently. She tried to steal some items from the store. She was stopped. She was then taken back to the loss prevention office and questioned. She admitted to trying to steal the items. She was then charged with theft. Her case was scheduled for arraignment in Delaware County Municipal Court.

Naturally, this young lady was extremely concerned about how a theft conviction could impact her career and desperately wanted to avoid that conviction on her record. She spoke with attorney Ben Luftman. After speaking with attorney Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was hired to represent her on the theft case.

Attorneys with LHA represented the young counselor on her case. Ultimately, we were able to negotiate the reduction of her theft charge to a lesser unauthorized use of property charge. Our client was satisfied at having avoided the theft conviction on her record.
