Domestic Violence and Assault Charges Dismissed

Posted On: July 2nd, 2013

Our client, a female in her early forties found herself in an unfortunate situation. A verbal argument with her sister escalated and the police were called. After arriving and questioning both parties, our client was arrested and charged with domestic violence and assault. Her case was then scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Domestic violence and assault charges are both first degree misdemeanors. Both are punishable by up to six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine. Both charges are offenses of violence. A conviction on either charge would remain on this woman’s criminal background for the rest of her life.

Knowing what she was facing, LHA attorneys represented this client on the case. Ultimately, the prosecutor was unable to proceed with the case due to a lack of evidence and the charges were dismissed.

The dismissal allowed our client to stay out of jail, kept her criminal background clean and allowed her to move on from a very unfortunate evening.
