Drug Abuse Charge Dismissed

Posted On: June 24th, 2013

A gentleman in his mid-thirties was pulled over in Columbus by a police officer for failing to use a turn signal. Upon further investigation, marijuana was found in his vehicle. He was subsequently charged with misdemeanor drug abuse and scheduled to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Having no prior criminal record, this gentleman was unsure of what he was facing with his pending charges. After researching attorneys online, he contacted attorney Ben Luftman. After explaining that a conviction would result in a mandatory minimum 6 month license suspension, in addition to having a drug conviction on his record, the gentleman hired the Columbus Criminal Defense team to represent him on his charges.

Attorneys with LHA  represented the gentleman in court. After reviewing all of the police reports and other available discovery, we negotiated a plea agreement where the drug abuse charge was dismissed in exchange for our client’s agreement to plead guilty to the traffic violation.

This resolution spared our client from a six-month license suspension and a drug conviction on his record.
