A young gentleman in his late 20s was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for an expired tag violation. He and the driver were asked for their IDs. They were then pulled out of the vehicle and patted down. Nothing was found. The police then called the K-9 unit. The police found drug paraphernalia and cocaine in the vehicle. The young man insisted that he had no knowledge of drugs in the vehicle and that they were not his. He was charged with felony drug possession and released.
This young man was now faced with a potential felony drug conviction on his record and an additional 6-month to 5-year license suspension. He was terrified. This could destroy his promising career in the real estate business before it even had a chance to take off.
Weighing his options, he called attorney Ben Luftman and spoke with him at length about all of his options, potential issues with the case, as well as a significant amount of mitigating factors in his favor. After the conversation, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was retained to represent the young man and fight for his future.
Attorney Luftman and attorney Dan Sabol represented the client on his case. Attorney Sabol was ultimately able to negotiate a resolution where the felony charge was dismissed within one month, upon our client’s completion of a couple of conditions.
The dismissal and subsequent expungement or sealing of this young man’s record will remove any trace of this charge from his criminal background. It will allow him to move confidently ahead in his career and his life.
