Franklin County Domestic Violence Dismissed

Posted On: May 6th, 2015

The office of Columbus criminal defense attorneys were recently contacted by a 36-year-old man arrested in Grove City, Illinois and charged with 1st degree misdemeanor domestic violence. Our client was an out-of-state resident in Columbus for business staying in a hotel. During dinner he and his female companion argued, then continued to argue when in their room. Police were called and the alleged victim reported the charges against our client. The police noticed small lacerations on the alleged victim, an ambulance was called to the scene and the alleged victim was treated and released. The police interviewed other guests within the hotel who witnessed no violence but heard arguing. Our client refused to be interviewed by the police and was arrested and charged with 1st degree misdemeanor domestic violence.

Due to the serious nature of the charges against our client this case was not heard in the Mayor Court of Grove City but in Franklin County Municipal Court. The police report contained information stating our client had been intoxicated at the time of the arrest but no field sobriety or breathalyzer test was performed. Luftman, Heck & Associates diligently represented our client through three court hearings. After reviewing all evidence against our client our attorneys successfully negotiated all charges against our client to be dismissed due to lack of evidence.
