Marijuana Possession Dismissed

Posted On: June 15th, 2013

A young man in his early twenties was pulled over by a Columbus Police Department officer for a plate violation. Smelling the odor of marijuana, he conducted a search of the vehicle. His searched turned up a small baggie of marijuana. The driver was cited with the plate violation and possession of marijuana. His case was then scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

This young man is employed full time. He drives back and forth to work every day. If convicted, he would lose his license for a minimum of six months. Driving privileges are discretionary. Additionally, having no prior criminal record, he would also have a drug conviction. None of those potential outcomes sounded appealing and the young man reached out the Columbus Criminal Defense team for assistance with his cases.

Attorney Ben Luftman represented the young gentleman on his cases. After reviewing all of the reports, including the police report and lab report, attorney Luftman was able to negotiate a dismissal of the marijuana possession charge.

The dismissal of the marijuana charge saved this young man from having his license suspended and potentially losing his job. He also avoided the marijuana conviction on his record and that should be helpful when he applies for jobs in the future.
