A man in Pike County was driving to work around 7 a.m. when he and a pick-up truck collided on a country road. The truck carried a 23-year-old, a 19-year-old and two 17-year-olds, all with criminal and drug records. It was uncertain who caused the accident. The man driving alone was a past and current drug addict and faced 20 days in jail. At this point, attorney Joseph Kunkel was contacted.
The car was totaled and he had to be life-flighted to a trauma center in Huntington, West Virginia. He was given a blood test showing no alcohol in his system, but marijuana, heroin and meth were present. The man spent two months in the hospital. He was charged with Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a first-degree misdemeanor and an OVI. Attorney Joseph Kunkel evaluated the case and successfully dismissed it. With the man’s two prior OVI’s, a driver intervention program, probation and fines were given.
The man was grateful for Attorney Joseph Kunkel and his help because he did no time in jail and did not miss any work.
