Retiree Avoids Soliciting Conviction

Posted On: September 24th, 2014

Through a series of regrettable events, a retiree in his early 60s found himself charged with soliciting a prostitute. He was incredibly embarrassed over the circumstances. He was also concerned about being convicted of the crime, going to jail and being on probation. He called attorney Ben Luftman to discuss his options. After speaking with attorney Luftman, he decided to hire him to represent him on the soliciting case.

Attorney Luftman went to his initial court date and received the discovery from the prosecutor, which was then forwarded to his client to review. After reviewing the discovery and discussing the matter with his client further with his client, attorney Luftman returned at the next court date to negotiate with the prosecutor. After speaking with the prosecutor about the circumstances, the prosecutor agreed to reduce the soliciting charge to a lesser loitering offense. Thereafter, attorney Luftman convinced the judge to impose a small fine. Jail time and probation were both avoided. This accomplished all of the gentleman’s goals with respect to the case. He paid his fine that day and was thankful to move on from an incredibly embarrassing and nerve racking situation.
