Shoplifting Charge Dismissed

Posted On: July 17th, 2014

A young housewife in her mid-20s recently made an extremely out of character choice while shopping at a central Ohio Kohl’s store recently. While in the store, she concealed a number of items that she did not try to pay for. Prior to exiting the store, she was stopped by loss prevention. Loss prevention asked her to follow them back to their office. After entering the office, she was questioned about the items and confessed to having tried to take them. After confessing, she was charged with shoplifting theft. Her criminal case was scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Being new to the country, this was not what she wanted for many different reasons. Her family reached out to attorney Ben Luftman. After speaking with attorney Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was retained to represent the young housewife.

Attorneys with LHA represented our client. We were able to negotiate a resolution where the shoplifting charge was dismissed after the young lady paid court costs and completed an educational class. Our client was more than happy to comply with those conditions in exchange for the dismissal of the shoplifting charge.

After her charge was dismissed, an expungement motion was filed on her behalf. After being granted by the judge, the record of the case will be completely removed from her background.
