Underage Alcohol Possession Charge Dismissed

Posted On: June 3rd, 2014

A young college student was visiting Columbus and attended a party on campus. While holding a beer can, an undercover cop approached him and asked for his ID. The officer asked how old he was and the young man responded “19” as he handed the officer his ID. He was then taken out of the bar and given a citation for underage alcohol possession. His case was then scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Having never been charged with more than a traffic ticket, and otherwise being an outstanding individual, the young student was naturally concerned. After his family reached out to attorney Ben Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was hired to represent him on the case.

Attorneys with LHA represented the young man at court. Ultimately, we negotiated the dismissal of his case for his payment of court costs and attendance at an underage alcohol awareness class.

The dismissal and subsequent expungement or sealing of the record of the case will permanently remove this unfortunate evening from the young man’s record.
