Woman Enters Diversion Program After Licking County Retail Theft Charges

The capable criminal defense attorneys with Ohio’s Luftman, Heck & Associates recently assisted a woman when she found herself in a very precarious position after retail theft charges put her criminal record and possibly her freedom in jeopardy. The woman was stopped in a Licking County department store and accused of shoplifting approximately $100 worth of merchandise. If convicted, this first-degree misdemeanor could have resulted in a penalty of six months in jail. In an effort to deal with these retail theft charges against and avoid any time behind bars, she contacted the attorney Chase Mallory.

By utilizing his comprehensive experience with shoplifting cases, attorney Mallory began negotiating with the prosecutors in hopes of finding an alternative to a conviction and jail time. He alleviated his client’s concerns by successfully enrolling her into a theft diversion program for first-time offenders. Upon its completion, the client was relieved to know she could pursue an expungement, allowing her to move past this unnerving event.
