College Student Avoids Drug Convictions

Posted On: May 1st, 2013

A young college student was caught with marijuana and a pipe by a local police department. He was charged with marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia.

A conviction on either of these charges would have meant the suspension of his license for a minimum of six month. Driving privileges are not guaranteed. More importantly, a conviction would have made him ineligible for federal financial aid. If convicted, the young man would not be able to continuing attending college. Given these circumstances, he reached out to the Columbus Criminal Defense team for assistance.

Columbus, Ohio drug lawyer Ben Luftman represented the client in court. Given the young man’s lack of a prior record and showing the devastating impact a conviction would have on his future, attorney Luftman was able to convince the prosecutor to dismiss the charges.

The resolution allowed the young man to not only keep his license, but to also keep his financial aid and his career aspirations as well.
