A young lady in her mid-20s got into an argument recently with a family member. The police were called out. After investigating, the young lady was arrested, taken to jail and charged with domestic violence and assault. Her case was scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court. While she was in jail awaiting her arraignment, a family member reached out to attorney Ben Luftman to see if he could help and after speaking hired the Columbus Criminal Defense team for assistance.
Attorney Luftman appeared on her behalf at arraignment and was able get her released without her, or anyone else, having to pay a bond on her behalf. From there, attorneys with LHA represented the client at court. After four court dates and a considerable amount of negotiation, we were able to get both charges completely dismissed.
Our client was naturally grateful. Had she pled guilty or been convicted of either charge, it would have remained on her criminal background for the rest of her life. Being a career-minded college student, this very unfortunate incident could have impacted the rest of her entire life. Thankfully that will not be the case.
