Misdemeanor Theft Charge Dismissed

While shopping at a local Meijer store, a woman in her mid-40s made an extremely poor choice. She tried to take a number of items from the store. Before exiting the store, she was stopped by loss prevention. She was then taken into the loss prevention office and when questioned about the situation, admitted to trying to steal. She was then charged with misdemeanor theft. Her case was scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

This was a very embarrassing situation. The woman decided she needed legal assistance with the case and called attorney Ben Luftman. After speaking with attorney Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was hired to represent her and to make a difference.

Attorney Luftman and attorney Dan Sabol represented our client. Attorney Sabol was ultimately able to negotiate a resolution where the prosecutor agreed to dismiss the misdemeanor theft charge against our client for her payment of court costs and attendance at an anti-theft class. Our client was more than happy to fulfill those requirements. Her case was then dismissed. Because the case was dismissed, we were able to immediately file a motion to seal or expunge the record of the case and it will be completely removed from her criminal background shortly.
