Misdemeanor Theft Charge Dismissed

Posted On: June 13th, 2014

While shopping at a local Kroger store, a retiree in her mid-60s made a very uncharacteristic and unwise decision to try and steal some items from the store. She was stopped by loss prevention, taken back to the office, questioned and the confessed. She was charged with misdemeanor theft and her case was scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Having never been charged with more than a traffic violation, the realization was devastating to her. She did not know what to expect or where to turn. She ultimately contacted attorney Ben Luftman to discuss her options for the misdemeanor theft charge. After speaking with attorney Luftman, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was retained to represent her on the case.

Attorneys with LHA represented her on the case. Given her lack of record and additional positive mitigating evidence, we were able to negotiate the dismissal of her misdemeanor theft case upon her completion of conditions and payment of court costs.

The dismissal and subsequent expungement or sealing of her case will return her record to unblemished and she is very much looking forward to that day.
