Retirees Theft Charge Dismissed

Our client, a woman in her late fifties was shopping at Cabellas. Through a series of events that amounted to a large misunderstanding, she found herself charged with Theft.  Her case was scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

To say these charged affected this woman greatly would be an understatement. She had lived an exemplary life. She had never been charged with anything more than a traffic ticket. She has been married for decades and a good mother and wife. She also described herself as woman of faith, so this particular charge was extremely disturbing to her. Knowing this was nothing more than a scanning error and that the charge is public record, she was desperate for vindication and removal of the charge as quickly as possible.

The prosecutor agreed with our arguments and agreed to dismiss the theft charge.

The dismissal and subsequent expungement or sealing of our client’s case will remove it from the Franklin County Municipal Clerk of Court’s website. It will also remove the record from her criminal background. The resolution gave a very shaken woman a great deal of comfort and relief.
