21-Year-Old Student Sees Drug-Related OVI And Theft Charge Reduced

Posted On: March 7th, 2016

Luftman, Heck & Associates often represents clients with more than one case pending, which can be a very vulnerable legal position without experienced counsel. This was the situation a 21-year-old college student found himself in after receiving a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) of drugs while he had a previous theft charge waiting to be resolved. The young man wanted to avoid the employment and educational perils this additional drug-related OVI offense could create so he reached out to our attorneys for help.

LHA attorneys were confident that he could assist his client and through strategic negations with the prosecutor’s office, he settled all of the client’s legal issues. The client agreed to plead guilty to a single charge of failing to maintain physical control of a vehicle, which included his participation in a three-day intervention program, but would not require a license suspension. In exchange, the prosecutor would dismiss the drug-related OVI and theft charge. Our client was pleased to be rid of these legal problems and able to continue his education.
