Truck Driver’s Misdemeanor Theft Charge Dismissed

Posted On: October 2nd, 2014

A commercial driver who was passing through Columbus recently made a serious mistake. While at a local Walmart, he decided to try and take some items. He was caught. When taken back to the loss prevention office, he confessed and was subsequently charged with misdemeanor theft.  His case was scheduled for arraignment in Franklin County Municipal Court.

The gentleman was clearly ashamed of the misdemeanor theft charge, but he had two additional concerns. First, getting to Columbus would be very difficult for him given his route. Second, if the charge stuck, he may not be able to continue his occupation. He decided to contact attorney Ben Luftman and after discussing his options, the Columbus Criminal Defense team was hired to represent him on the case.

Attorneys with LHA represented our client in the misdemeanor theft case. We were able to negotiate a dismissal of the driver’s case upon his payment of court costs. Our client never had to attend a court date and he was grateful.

The dismissal, along with the subsequent expungement or sealing of the record will remove the misdemeanor theft case from the Franklin County Municipal Clerk of Court website, along with his criminal background.
