Charge Reduced in Domestic Violence Case

Posted On: July 10th, 2019

A father was charged with domestic violence after getting involved in a dispute between his two daughters. He tried to break up the argument but could not, so he grabbed his one daughter’s leg and dragged her to her room. Somebody at the girl’s school noticed a bruise on her leg and called the police.

The man enlisted the help of the Columbus criminal defense attorneys of Luftman, Heck & Associates. Since he had no prior record, attorney Joe Kunkel negotiated on his behalf. Due to attorney Kunkel’s quick involvement in the case, the client was able to enlist in a parenting course. As such, the charge was reduced to a third-degree misdemeanor for criminal mischief. As a result, the client received no jail time, and one year of probation. In addition, the charge will be eligible for expungement.
