Domestic Violence and Assault Convictions Avoided

Posted On: October 10th, 2013

A young man in his early twenties recently found himself in an extremely unpleasant situation. Through a series of regrettable events, he found himself charged with domestic violence and assault. He was taken to jail and this shook him greatly. His case was then scheduled in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Further complicating matters is the fact that his is has not yet obtained his citizenship and a domestic violence or assault conviction on his record could keep him from his goal of one day becoming a citizen. If convicted, both charges, offenses of violence, would remain on his record for the rest his life.

He decided to contact the Columbus Criminal Defense team for help on his case. Attorneys with LHA represented the young man on his case. There were some legal issues with the case and our Franklin County criminal attorneys were able to negotiate a resolution where our client pled guilty to disorderly conduct to resolve the case.

This resolution meant that our client was able to avoid offenses of violence on his record and the record of the disorderly conduct can be expunged or sealed in the future.
